The Holocaust: This does not need explaining, even through I was not alive during the events of WWII I have heard from my relatives and friends about how terrible this genocide was.

World War II: It is so heartbreaking that he actually was so successful in getting so many people to agree to become part of the Nazi group in hunt of killing innocent Jews.

9/11 World Trade Center Attacks: This was a evil act of Terrorism on the USA carried out by 19 islamic extremist under the command of terrorist group Al-qaeda lead by Osama Bin Laden. 

The Black Plague: It's hard to recognize the horrible devastation this left to the Old World. An entire village would be wiped out. Cities were breading grounds of disease.

Atomic Bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki: Logically correct, morally horrific. Those innocent people had nothing to do with the war, but it did stop it.

The Slave Trade:  The Romans alone enslaved peoples from every nationality and today in some small places slavery still exists in the form of sex slaves and serfs.

Pearl Harbor Attack: . America wanted to end the war. Japan is technically responsible for Hiroshima and Nagasaki anyways; if they hadn't bombed Pearl Harbor, America wouldn't have taken revenge.

World War I: The first World War is often overshadowed by the second, which is believe to have created catastrophic devices, turned countries around, and killed millions.

Sinking of the Titanic: Of course I wasn't alive when this happened but I still know all about the titanic and how the 3rd class citizens where pretty much left to die 

The Crucifixion of Jesus Christ: The God of the Universe, the perfectly holy being who is infinitely good, completely without sin, sacrificed himself to save those dead in their sin.
