AFRO full form

The Afro-Asian Peoples Solidarity Organisation is a non-governmental international organization that is founded to dedicate for the national liberation ideals and third world solidarity. In a conference that held in Cairo from December 1957 to January 1958, The Afro-Asian People’s Solidarity Organisation was founded as the Solidarity Council of the Afro Asian Countries. And at the second conference that held in Conakry on April 1960, the name was changed to its present form.

It reportedly had 80 member organizations in the year 1979 with the Soviet Afro-Asian Solidarity Committee as a charter member. The observer status in AAPSO was held by the World Federation of Democratic Youth, World Federation of Trade Unions, World Peace Council, and the Women’s International Democratic Federation.

The organizational structure of Afro Asian Peoples Solidarity Organisation is based on the constitution that was adopted in its first conference and revised in following congresses.

The organization comprises of the Congress, Permanent Secretariat, the Presidium and the Bureau of the Presidium. The Presidium encompasses all national committees’ heads to review the functioning of AAPSO, discuss urgent questions, adopts various programmes of action and guides the Permanent Secretariat. The Bureau is composed of the President, the Vice President, the Secretary-General, Permanent Secretariat and heads of elected associate members to review the development of events.
