NBER:- National Bureau of Economic Research

NBER stands for National Bureau of Economic Research. It is an American non-profit research organization which is committed to undertaking and disseminating unbiased economic research among public policymakers, business professionals, and the academic community. Founded in 1920 by Wesley Clair Mitchell, it is known for providing start and end dates for recessions in the United States. It focuses on examining in great detail the economic growth of occurring problems in the US. NBER uses the sources of inequality as one of the major research themes. It uses the term “gains” to reflect improvement in racial convergence. The NBER analyzed the hindrances in quality of education of black and Hispanic students compared to the education of white students and found out that the most common factors contributing to racial gaps are discrimination, culture, and genetics. Through this analysis, they attempt to fix these gaps in education between races. The common themes NBER research on are Charter schools, childhood interventions, developments in the European economy, productivity and growth, commodity prices etc.
