NEEPCO stands for North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited a Mini Ratna public sector enterprise of the government of India. It was founded on 2nd April 1976 and serves the States on Northeastern India. It deals with electricity generation. It was established for the successful planning, investigation, designing, construction, generation, operation and maintenance of power stations in the Northeast states of the country. It is one the most profitable corporations and offers great pay packages in the power industry. It is headquartered in Shillong, Meghalaya. It functions under the Electric act 2003. It has a total of 2184 employees working as a part of this organization. It operates the largest Hydropower plant in North East India. It aims to tap the available resources that are available in abundance for better production of electricity. It is one of the leading electric power company and aims to harness power from both conventional and nonconventional sources. It also aims to have a minimum impact on the environment through proper planning for power generation. It’s a part of Ministry of Power, Government of India.
