SALT:- Strategic Arms Limitation Tax
The full form of SALT stands for Strategic Arms Limitation Talks. 2 rounds of bilateral conferences and corresponding international treaties involving the United States and the Soviet Union, the Cold War superpower on the issue of Arms control. The two rounds of talks and agreements were Strategic Arms Limitation Talks I and Strategic Arms Limitation Talks II. The Strategic Arms Limitation Talks led to the anti-ballistic missile treaty and an agreement between the two countries. The most common name for the Strategic Arms Limitation Talks is the Strategic Arms Limitation Talks I, an agreement which was signed on 26th May in the year 1972. The character of the Strategic Nuclear Forces of the Soviet Union and the United States were changing in the year 1967. The number of Strategic Ballistic Missile Launchers at existing level was frozen by the Strategic Arms Limitation Talks l. Only after the same number of older Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) and Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) launchers have been dismantled were the addition of new Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) launchers were provided for.
