NSS:- National Service Scheme
NSS stands for National Service Scheme. It is a government-sponsored public service program conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. It was launched in 1969 which was Gandhi’s Centenary year. The program was aimed at developing students’ personality through community service. It is a voluntary association of young people in colleges, universities and at +2 level working for a campus-community linkage. It helps in the inculcation of social welfare in students and aims to provide service to society without bias. They work to ensure that everyone who is needy gets help to enhance their standard of living and live a life of dignity. Volunteers and people in villages exchange lessons on how to lead a good life despite a scarcity of resources. They also help at times of natural and man-made disasters by providing food, clothing and first aid to the victims of the disasters.
