VRDE:- Vehicle Research and Development Establishment
VRDE is a behemoth laboratory of the Defense Research & Development Organization (DRDO) which is headquartered in Vahanagar. Its main function is research and development of various light tracked, wheeled & specialized vehicles for defense applications. VRDE was established in the year 1965 and is currently headed by Maj. Gen. Ajay Gupta. It’s mostly been taken care of by the Indian Army and most of its production is for the same. Let’s talk about its few technologies developed so far-
- Armoured Engineer Reconnaissance Vehicle (AERV)- Designed to provide combat engineering support for both offensive and defensive operations in plain, desert, and riverine terrains.
- Armoured Ambulance- A heavily guarded ambulance with resistant to bullets and grenade.
- Bulletproof Vehicle- Not to mention in deep these are the jeep, cars made with bulletproof materials.
- Infantry Combat Vehicle (ICV)- acts as the excellent mobility and protection features and potent firepower to defeat enemy armor and soft targets.
The main production partners of VRDE are Vehicle Factory Jabalpur and Ordnance Factory Medak, the other production agencies include BEML, TATA MOTORS, and ASHOK LEYLAND.
