Early years -
Glenn Close was born on March 19, 1947, in Greenwich, Connecticut, US. She began her acting career at the age of 27.

'The World According to Garp' (1982) - Close starred in the 1982 film adaptation of John Irving's novel, for which she received her first Academy Award.

'The Big Chill' screening, 1983 -
Close attended the 21st Annual New York Film Festival in September 1983. She received her second Academy Award nomination for this movie.

'The Real Thing' opening night, 1984 - Glenn Close, her brother, and Robert Duvall head to the after party of 'The Real Thing' opening night performance in New York City.

March For Women's Lives, 1989 -
Close took part in the 1989 March For Women's Lives protest in Washington D.C., to keep abortion and birth control safe and legal.

GLAAD Awards, 2002 -
Close was given an award by GLAAD in 2002 for promoting equal rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people.

Democratic National Convention, 2004 - Close attended the Democratic National Convention in 2004, to show her support for the party in defeating George W. Bush.

New York Mets, 2006 -
Close is a fan of the New York Mets, and has been known to frequently sing the US national anthem at games since 1986.

'Damages' (2007-12) -
Glenn Close received huge critical acclaim for her performance as lawyer Patty Hewes in the TV show 'Damages,' which ran for five seasons.

March For Our Lives, 2018 -

Golden Globes, 2019 -
Close won the 2019 Golden Globe for her performance in 'The Wife.' She was nominated for an Academy Award, but didn't win.

'Hillbilly Elegy' (2020) -
Close picked up her eighth Oscar nomination in 2021 for Best Supporting Actress for her role as the grandmother in this family drama.
