Forms in ReactJS

React Forms For any modern web application, a form is a crucial part, mainly due to its features of serving numerous purposes like the authentication of the user, adding user, searching, filtering, booking, ordering, etc. In this way, the users interact with the application as well as gather information from the users. In React, a stateful, reactive approach is taken to build forms and this process is generally implemented by using controlled components. The form input to React can be of two types: Uncontrolled component and Controlled component.

Uncontrolled component: Similar to the traditional HTML form inputs, the uncontrolled component can be written using a ref to get form values from the DOM. Thus there is no need to write an event handler for every state update and the HTML elements maintain their own state that will be updated when the input value changes.

Example:

import React, { Component } from 'react';
class App extends React.Component {
constructor(props) {
super(props);
this.updateSubmit = this.updateSubmit.bind(this);
this.input = React.createRef();
}
updateSubmit(event) {
alert('Successful entry'.);
event.preventDefault();
}
render() {
return (

Uncontrolled Form

); } } export default App;

Output: import React, { Component } from 'react'; class App extends React.Component { constructor(props) { super(props); this.state = {value: ''}; this.handleChange = this.handleChange.bind(this); this.handleSubmit = this.handleSubmit.bind(this); } handleChange(event) { this.setState({value: event.target.value}); } handleSubmit(event) { alert('Successful Submission: ' + this.state.value); event.preventDefault(); } render() { return (

Controlled Form

); } } export default App;

Output: error
