NHPC:- National Hydroelectric Power Corporation
NHPC stands for National Hydroelectric Power Corporation a Hydropower generation company of India. It was established in the year 1975. At the time of establishment, it aimed to harness electricity through water. It was set up with the aim of planning, promoting and organizing the integrated and efficient development of hydroelectric power in all areas. It later expanded its operations to harnessing electricity through other resources like Geothermal, Solar, Tidal, Wind, etc. The company deals with electricity generation and electricity trading. It has an authorized capital 2000 million. It has a total of 28 power stations located across the country. Some of them are a joint venture with the Madhya Pradesh Government. NHPC has undertaken the construction of inter-state transmission lines and ancillary works for punctual and well-coordinated interstate exchange of power. It is headquartered in Faridabad. It is a public limited enterprise It is listed on the both the National Stock Exchange and the Bombay Stock Exchange. It is one of the prime organizations for the generation of hydroelectricity in the country.
