Blood Vessels

The blood vessels are elastic tubes that carry blood to every part of the body, like the heartbeats, it pumps blood through a system of blood vessels, called the circulatory system. These blood in the transportation of the blood pump by heart. The circulation of this blood is essential because It carries oxygen and nutrients to your body’s tissues and at the same time It takes carbon dioxide and waste products away from the tissues, this blood is also needed to sustain life and promote the health of all the body’s tissues.

Types of Blood Vessels

There are three main types of blood vessels which are very essential in the process of circulating blood around the body. Any damage to these three blood vessels can lead to a big problem and it may even cause loss of life.

Now let us look at the arteries

The arteries which mean red carry oxygen and nutrients away from the heart, to the body tissues.

The veins which are also called blue take oxygen-poor blood back to the heart.

Arteries start with the aorta, the large artery leaving the heart.

They transport oxygen-rich blood away from the heart to all of the body’s tissues.

They branch many times, and they becoming smaller and smaller as they carry blood further from the heart.

Capillaries

Capillaries vessels are small, thin blood vessels that connect the arteries and the veins.

Their thin walls permit oxygen, nutrients, carbon dioxide, and waste products to pass to and from the tissue cells.

Veins

Veins are blood vessels which take oxygen-poor blood back to the heart, veins usually become increase and increase as they move closer to the heart. The superior vena cava is the and biggest vein that brings blood from the head and arms to the heart, and the inferior vena cava brings blood from the abdomen and legs into the heart.

This vast process of blood vessels – arteries, veins, and capillaries – is over 60,000 miles long. Which is long enough to go around the world more than twice! The Blood flows continuously through the body’s blood vessels. And the heart is the pump that makes it all possible.

The network of arteries and veins also carry blood throughout the body, that is the arteries transport blood from the heart to the body tissues and veins carry blood back to the heart.
