Need for the reproductive health and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases (STD)

 

In many countries, the most notable group of diseases are sexually transmitted diseases. These diseases are more common in people who are 150-50 years old. Mainly, sexually transmitted diseases are infections and are spread by sexual contact. They can cause severe damage to the body, infertility, pregnancy complications, and may even lead to death.

Reproductive Health

Reproductive health is the state of complete mental, physical, and emotional well-being. Merely, it is not only related to reproductive diseases. Reproductive health is important as it deals with the reproductive functions, systems, and processes at all stages of life. Sexual health is included in reproductive health and serves as the main purpose to enhance life and personal relations. It is a central feature of human development and is crucial for general health. It reflects the level of health during childhood, developmental stages of adolescence, and adulthood, and sets the health stages for both men and women. Also, the reproductive health of the parents greatly determines the health of infants or newborns. Reproductive health is a universal concern and it is a prerequisite for economic, social, and human development. Additionally, it is a fundamental human right and is essential for the social and economic perspectives.

Transmission of Sexual Diseases

If a person is suffering from a sexually transmitted infection, he can pass it to other people by contact with the genitals, skin, mouth, body fluids, or rectum. In minute infections, severe symptoms are not shown by the body, but health is affected. They are caused by viral or bacterial infections. Those which are caused by the viruses cannot be cured, but the treatment is available for their symptoms.

Prevention of Sexually Transmitted Diseases

People of all ages and backgrounds are affected by the STD’s, either active or dormant. If people are STI positive, but symptoms are not being shown by the body then also people should go for treatment. It is must essential to avoid further spread. Preventive measures should be taken to avoiding sexually transmitted diseases. Some of the prevention measures are listed below.

  • Go for tests for HIV.
  • Avoid sharing, towels, underclothing, and shaving materials.
  • Must wash or shower before and after intercourse.
  • Get vaccination of hepatitis B, that consists of three shots.
  • Do not use drugs and alcohol.
  • Avoid sexual contact with the persons, suffering from STD’s.
